Welcome to VCU MSA 2010 – 2011

Assalamu Alaikum,

Welcome to another great year with the Muslim Students Association at Virginia Commonwealth University! We are very excited to have you here and hope to meet you all shortly. We have high outlooks and high expectations, InshaAllah. Here’s a run through of the events we will be holding in the next couple of weeks.

We will be hosting Jummah at the Frankin St Gym (817 W. Franklin St) in room 308. It will start at 1:10 pm. Br Imad, our Faculty Advisor will be giving the Khutbah. We hold Jummahs every week, and they are usually held in the Commons. However, due to Welcome Week we had to find an alternate location.

There will be an Iftar on Monday the 30th of August, in the Commons in the Richmond Salons III – IV. There will be free food, a guest speaker and great company. Doors open at 7:20 pm.

Icebreaker! InshaAllah next Friday the 3rd of September we will hold the Icebreaker right after Jummah in the Commons in the Virginia Rooms. It will be a great opportunity for you to meet your Muslim brothers and sisters.

Stop by the MSA table at the SOVO fair!

  1. I’ll be returning to school this spring semester inshAllah and am looking for some Muslim brothers to live with very close to campus. I’d like a avoid university housing so if someone has an extra room in an off campus scenario that would fit me nicely.

As for me personally, I’m 28, returning to school after a six year layoff. I’m pursuing a PhD in education but am still finishing up my undergrad. I’m easy-going but focused so am not looking for any situation that would involve partying and the like. Shukran jazeelan. Ma’a salaama.
