(1) ANNOUNCEMENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS:
a)THE HOMELAND SECURITY PROGRAM
The Homeland Security Program at VCU and Professional Fraternity, Eta Limbda Sigma need You!
VCU’s Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness program is the first of its kind in the nation and continues to be one of the few such programs in the country. Given the current political climate, there is a dire need for Muslims to get involved in the field and this has been expressed in public statements by various government officials and agencies, some which have been known to present signing bonuses to Muslims on the spot at career fairs.
If you would like to learn more about the program at VCU, please contact Sister Sualeha Naviwala at sualeha@gmail.com or 434-229-600. She is also currently recruiting for the homeland security fraternity on campus, Eta Limbda Sigma, which puts together beneficial events including resume workshops, career fairs with agencies such as the CIA, FBI, etc and helps immensely with networking purposes especially for jobs in DC.
b) WEEKLY HALAQAAS
This week our joint halaqaa will be held on Thursday November 12th in the Forum Room 5-6PM lectured by Sis. Chantel. Please come out and learn about our Iman.
c) FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
On November 14th, 2009, Holy Fire Fellowship will be hosting a football tournament at VCU. They are inviting all of the religious groups on campus for this event. The co-ed flag football game will take place 9AM-3PM.Although the MSA will not be officially participating, this would be a great opportunity to fellowship with other religious organizations at VCU.
(2) FRIDAY PRAYER (Salat al-Jummah)
Jummah Prayer for this Friday on the Monroe Park Campus will take place inside the Commons in Virginia Rooms A, B, and C at 1:10PM. Brothers please place your shoes in Virginia Room D. For those in the MCV area, there is a Jummah almost every week held in the 2nd Floor Chapel of the Main Hospital. Please contact Sis. Hinna Shaikh for directions or for further information if needed at mailto:shaikhhs@vcu.edu.
“O you who have believed, when [the Adhan] is called for prayer on the Day of Juma`ah, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.” (Q. 62:9)
