FAST- A- THON

This year fast-a-thon will take place this Monday November 23, 2009 in Commonwealth Ballrooms A-B.

The dinner is scheduled to start at 5:30PM.

VCU Relay For Life: CANDLE LIGHT VIGIL

The VCU Relay for Life would like to invite the vcu community to a Candle Light Vigil on Friday, Nov.6, 6-7pm at the Commons Plaza.

The event is to support the end of breast cancer awareness month.

FAST-A-THON INTEREST MEETING

If you are interested in learning more about Fast-A-Thon event, or would like to volunteer, there will be an interest meeting Tuesday, October20, 2009.

MSA Workshop

This Monday October 19, 2009 a workshop will be held on effective speaking.

Br. Hasnain Chowdhury will be speaking on conduct and presentations during Jummah.

The workshop will take place in Richmond Salon III 4pm- 6:30pm, which is in the Commons.

Joint Halaqas

MSA Joint Halaqas (Islamic study circle) will be taught by the brilliant and knowledgeable Sister Chantal from the Richmond Community. Topics to be covered:

• purification of the soul, including tazkiyah and adab
• fiqh 101 (from the Maliki madhhab)
• On the love of Allah, the Prophet, salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallam.

MSA Elections for 2009-2010

With our vision for next year being an organization to make us stronger and better brothers/sisters and individuals of this society, our MSA is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to be the leaders of our organization.

If you’d like to apply for a position or would like to nominate someone for a position then please complete a brief form outside of the MSA office.

The Executive positions available: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer

Committee Chair positions include: Education, Brothers Social Chairs, Sisters Social Chairs, Outreach, Community Service, Publicity, and Technology

Ad hoc committees include: Ramadan, Fast-A-Thon, and Coffeehouse

A complete description of each position can be found in the MSA constitution on Blackboard. Nomination forms for executive positions are due by April 15th at 5pm. Committee chair applications are due by April 22nd by 5pm. Elections for executive positions will be held on Friday, April 17th after jummah prayer.
