    Leadership Workshop

    Want to be trained on how you can be a leader? Want to make a difference for your ummah? Come join us on Saturday, January 26th from 11AM-4PM in the Forum Room and hear such topics like: How to run a meeting, Delegation, Community Resources and more! Speakers include Bro. Imad, Sis. Chantal, Dr. Reed, Bilal Aslam, Ali Faruk, and the VCU MSA Exec Board. Lunch will be provided insha’Allah. Hope to see you, the future leaders of the Muslim Ummah, there!

    The VCU MSA will be having a short film competition, and the top 3 films will be played at the MSA Coffeehouse, April 19th, 2008!

    Categories for films:
    -Comedy
    -Drama
    -Documentary
    -Animation

    Registration Info:

    In order for films to be entered into competition, individuals or groups must first register by e-mailing Bilal Aslam, AslamB@vcu.edu , and notifying him of the respective category and basic concept of the film.
    - Registration will be CLOSED March 1st.
    - If you know you will need equipment to make the film or to do editing, the MSA and the Cabell library can provide equipment. Please specify when registering what kind of help you will need and we will work with you.
    - There is no fee for registration, and it will be made open to all members of MSA’s or any Muslim youth organizations, including out-of-state competitors.
    - All entries submitted must be done by those individuals/groups possessing ownership of the films.
    - Films made prior to competition (not specifically for this competition) will be accepted.
    - Individuals/groups may submit more than one film, but must register separately for each entry submitted.

    Submission Guidelines:

    - Final copy of films will be accepted no later than April 15th. Contact Bilal Aslam, AslamB@vcu.edu , to arrange delivery.
    - All films made must be proper and decent in content, i.e. no obscene, promiscuous, lewd, vulgar/offensive material. If you have specific questions about your film, please feel free to ask at any time.
    **Note: Films will be screened for appropriateness before judging, any films deemed inappropriate will be rejected from competition (If you have concerns about your film’s content, we will be more than willing to discuss it with you. We will notify you in the event that we find any problems with your film.)**
    - Length of films MUST be within 3-12 min., No exceptions! Please make editing adjustments accordingly.
    - Please only submit COPIES of your films. We prefer you not submit any original versions.
    - If you wish to have your entry returned to you after the competition, please notify us before the final submission date. If you fail to do so, we will retain the entries as VCU MSA property.

    In addition to being played at the Coffeehouse, the top 3 films will also receive special prizes. All competitors who attend the Coffeehouse will receive a take-home prize for participating in the competition.
